Nahimic is legitimate. If you don't use its effects, uninstall the Nahimic Companion/Nahimic app and the Nahimic component in Device Manager (Software components). Note that it may reinstall through Windows Update or the PC maker's app.

What's going on

Nahimic is installed as an app plus a driver component (“A-Volute” / “Nahimic” under Software components in Device Manager). The component means Windows Update can put it back after you uninstall the app.

Some users report game crashes, high CPU or audio glitches linked to Nahimic. Removing it or updating to the latest version usually helps.

Symptoms

  • NahimicService.exe running in Task Manager.
  • Nahimic Companion app appears after updates.
  • Audio glitches or crashes in some games.

Common causes

  • Pre-installed by the PC/motherboard maker.
  • Reinstalled by Windows Update via the driver component.
  • Outdated Nahimic version conflicting with games.

Try these fixes

  1. Update or uninstall the appSettings → Apps → Installed apps → Nahimic → Uninstall (or update it from the maker).
  2. Remove the driver componentDevice Manager → View → Devices by type → Software components → right-click A-Volute/Nahimic entries → Uninstall device → tick delete driver.
  3. Stop reinstallationIn the maker's control app (MSI Center, Alienware Command Center), turn off Nahimic. Windows Update may still offer it as an optional driver.
  4. Restart and testRestart the PC and confirm audio still works through the standard Realtek/Windows settings.
How to confirm the fix: NahimicService.exe no longer runs and sound works normally.

Avoiding it in future

Check optional driver updates before installing them.
